US bank statements are among the most requested conversions on Bank Statement Engine. Our converter handles all major US bank PDF layouts automatically — no configuration needed. Simply upload and download.
Chase statements include transaction date, post date, description, and amount in a compact table layout. Our extractor separates credits and debits into individual columns and standardises dates to YYYY-MM-DD format. Chase business checking, personal checking, and savings statements all work.
Bank of America statements use a running balance format with deposits and other credits listed first, then withdrawals and other debits. Our converter correctly attributes each amount as credit or debit based on the section header and outputs a clean, merged Excel file covering all transaction types.
Wells Fargo statements include a check number column alongside date, description, and amount. Our dedicated Wells Fargo extractor handles the check number field, correctly parses the amount direction from the statement context, and produces a full debit/credit/balance Excel file.
Indian bank PDF statements have unique formatting challenges — Indian number formats (1,23,456.78), Cr/Dr suffixes on amounts, multi-line UPI narrations with reference numbers, and Hindi/regional text in description fields. Bank Statement Engine has dedicated extractors for all major Indian banks built specifically to handle these formats.
HDFC Bank statements use a date, narration, value date, debit, credit, balance column layout with INR formatting. Our HDFC extractor handles long UPI narration strings that wrap across multiple lines, correctly parses Cr/Dr balance indicators, and outputs a clean Excel file ready for Tally ERP 9, Tally Prime, or Zoho Books import. See our dedicated HDFC Bank Statement PDF to Excel guide.
State Bank of India statements come in both passbook and account statement formats, with transaction descriptions that include reference numbers, counterparty bank names, and IFSC codes. Our SBI extractor strips reference noise and captures the meaningful narration text alongside clean debit, credit, and balance figures.
ICICI Bank statements include a transaction ID column alongside the standard date, description, debit, credit, and balance layout. Our dedicated ICICI extractor handles both savings and current account formats and correctly reconciles the Cr/Dr direction from the balance column. See the dedicated ICICI Bank Statement PDF to Excel page.
Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra statements both produce well-structured PDFs that our converter handles accurately. Kotak's multi-page statements with continued-balance rows are parsed in full, and Axis Bank's mode of payment column is preserved in the output.
UK bank statements use British date formats (DD/MM/YYYY), GBP amounts, and distinct credit/debit column layouts. Bank Statement Engine converts all major UK high street bank statements to Excel with correct date standardisation and column separation.
Barclays statements list date, description, debit, credit, and balance in a clean table layout. Our converter handles both Barclays Personal and Barclays Business statement formats and correctly parses the GBP formatting. See the dedicated Barclays Bank Statement Converter page.
HSBC UK statements use a payment type column alongside date, description, paid out, paid in, and balance. Our HSBC extractor handles the paid out / paid in column format and correctly separates debits from credits in the Excel output.
Lloyds Bank and NatWest statements both use DD MMM YYYY date formats with separate columns for money out and money in. Our converter handles both standard and business account formats for each bank and produces a consistent date, description, debit, credit, balance Excel output.
Every Excel file produced by Bank Statement Engine contains structured, clean columns that work directly in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and all major accounting platforms:
The most common reason to convert a PDF bank statement to Excel is to import transactions into accounting software. Here is exactly how the Excel output from Bank Statement Engine works with major platforms:
QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online both support Excel/CSV transaction imports via the Banking import feature. Download the Excel file from our converter, save a copy as CSV, then use QuickBooks' "Upload transactions" or "Import bank transactions" wizard. Our debit/credit column format maps directly to QuickBooks' Received/Spent fields.
Tally supports Excel import via the "Import of Data" feature. Our Excel output uses the date format (DD-MM-YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD) and separate debit/credit columns that Tally expects. Indian bank users — HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Axis — can convert their PDF statements and import directly into their ledger without any reformatting.
Xero and Sage both accept bank statement CSVs. After downloading the Excel file, save as CSV from Excel or Google Sheets and use the bank feed import. The clean date, description, debit, credit column layout maps directly to Xero's statement import format.
Zoho Books supports bank statement import from CSV. Our Excel output saves as a clean CSV with the correct column headers. FreshBooks similarly accepts CSVs for bank transaction import. The standardised format from Bank Statement Engine works with both platforms without any manual column remapping.
PDF bank statements are designed for reading, not for data work. Excel unlocks everything you need for accounting, analysis, and reporting:
Once your transactions are in Excel, you can sort by amount to find the largest payments, filter by keyword to categorise expenses, build pivot tables to summarise monthly spend by category, and use SUMIF formulas to total payments to specific vendors. None of this is possible in a PDF.
Lenders, NBFCs, and mortgage providers often ask for bank statement data in an editable format to run cash flow models. Converting your PDFs to Excel takes minutes and gives credit analysts exactly what they need — structured data with debits, credits, and running balances clearly laid out.
Hand your accountant or CA a clean Excel file instead of a stack of PDFs. They can add columns for GST codes, cost centres, or audit notes, and finalise your returns much faster. The balance verification built into every export also means there is an auditable record of the extraction accuracy.
Not all bank statements come as clean digital PDFs. Many older statements or those downloaded via post or email are scanned images embedded in a PDF container. Bank Statement Engine uses a 4-tier extraction approach:
Scanned PDFs typically complete in 15–30 seconds. You will see a progress indicator while the OCR engine processes your file. See our OCR PDF to Excel guide for more detail on scanned statement conversion.
Here is a real example of how raw PDF bank statement text is transformed into a clean, structured Excel file:
