Indian Bank Statement PDF Passwords — Quick Reference

Most Indian banks password-protect their e-statement PDFs. Here is a quick reference for the most common banks:

BankPDF Password FormatExample
HDFC BankLast 4 digits of mobile + date of birth DDMM78901503 (mobile ends 7890, DOB 15 March)
SBIDate of birth DDMMYYYY15031990 (DOB 15 March 1990)
ICICI BankFirst 4 letters of name (uppercase) + DOB DDMMRAHU2006 (name starts RAHU, DOB 20 June)
Axis BankDate of birth DDMMYYYY20061995 (DOB 20 June 1995)
Kotak MahindraDate of birth DDMMYYYY10121988 (DOB 10 December 1988)
Yes BankDate of birth DDMMYYYY05091985 (DOB 5 September 1985)
IndusInd BankDate of birth DDMMYYYY22021992 (DOB 22 February 1992)

Password formats may vary by account type and may change over time. If the above does not work, check the email from your bank that delivered the statement — it usually contains the password format or the password itself.

Why Do Banks Send Password-Protected PDFs?

Bank statement PDFs contain sensitive financial data — account numbers, transaction history, and personal details. Banks password-protect these documents to prevent unauthorised access in case the statement email or PDF file is intercepted, forwarded accidentally, or stored on a shared computer.

The password is typically derived from personal information that only the account holder knows (date of birth, mobile number) — not a random one-time password that would require the bank to send it separately. This balances security with convenience.

While this protects the document in transit, it creates a friction point when you need to process the statement digitally — for accounting, loan applications, or tax filing. Our converter removes that friction by handling the password unlocking step as part of the conversion process, without ever storing or exposing the password.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF password safe?
Yes. Your password is transmitted over HTTPS and held in memory only to unlock the PDF. It is never written to a database, log file or any persistent storage. Once the conversion is complete, the password is discarded from memory entirely.
Is the password stored anywhere?
No. The password is never stored. It is used in memory to decrypt the PDF and then immediately discarded. We have no ability to retrieve or see your password after conversion.
Which banks use password-protected PDF statements?
Most major Indian banks: HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, Yes Bank, IndusInd. Many international banks in Singapore, Malaysia, UAE and the UK also use password-protected PDFs. See the table above for common Indian bank password formats.
What if I don't know my bank statement PDF password?
Try the common patterns in the table above for your bank. If none work, check the email that delivered the statement — banks often include the password format or the password itself in the email body or subject. You can also download a fresh statement from NetBanking where the password format is usually shown.
How do I find my HDFC bank statement password?
HDFC Bank statement passwords are typically the last 4 digits of your registered mobile number followed by your date of birth in DDMM format. For example: mobile ends 7890, DOB 15 March = password 789015031. Check the email from HDFC for the exact password hint.
Is the converted file deleted after download?
Yes. All uploaded PDFs and converted output files are automatically deleted from our servers after 24 hours. No copies of your financial data are retained after this period.
Can I convert multiple password-protected PDFs?
Yes, completely free with no daily limits. Each file is processed individually. If files have different passwords, enter each one separately when prompted.
