What the Tally-Ready Output Includes
Tally imports require bank transaction data in a specific structure. Our output matches exactly what Tally's bank voucher import format expects:
- Date — formatted in DD-MM-YYYY (the Indian standard date format, compatible with Tally)
- Narration — full transaction description including UPI reference numbers, NEFT/RTGS IDs, IMPS details, cheque numbers, and beneficiary names
- Debit — all outgoing payments (withdrawals, UPI out, NEFT out, cheque payments)
- Credit — all incoming receipts (salary credits, NEFT in, UPI in, interest credits)
- Balance — running account balance after each transaction
This structure is accepted directly by Tally ERP 9, Tally Prime, Busy Accounting, and most third-party Tally import utilities.
How to Import Bank Statement Data into Tally ERP 9 or Tally Prime
After converting your PDF to Excel or CSV:
- Open Tally ERP 9 or Tally Prime and go to your company.
- Navigate to Gateway of Tally → Import Data → Vouchers.
- If using a third-party Tally import utility (such as Tally2Excel or similar), open the utility and select your Excel/CSV file.
- Map the columns: Date → Voucher Date, Narration → Narration, Debit → Dr Amount, Credit → Cr Amount.
- Select your bank ledger account and click Import.
- Tally will create bank vouchers for each transaction.
After import, perform a bank reconciliation in Tally to match your imported transactions against the closing balance on the statement.
Why Indian Businesses Use Bank Statement Converter
📋 CAs and Accounting Firms
Chartered Accountants handling GST filings, income tax returns, and audit work often receive PDF bank statements from clients. Converting these to Excel or CSV saves hours of manual data entry per client per month. For CA firms managing 20–50 clients, this tool directly reduces billable hours spent on low-value data work.
🏪 Small and Medium Businesses
SMEs that use Tally ERP 9 or Tally Prime for accounting can now get their bank data into the system without hiring a data entry operator. Download your HDFC, ICICI, or SBI statement PDF, convert it in seconds, and import it straight into your Tally company ledger.
🏭 Manufacturing and Trading Companies
Businesses that operate with multiple bank accounts — main current account, GST payment account, salary account — benefit from batch-converting all statements and maintaining a single consolidated view in Tally. Convert each account separately and import into the corresponding Tally ledger.
💼 Startups and Growing Companies
Startups that have recently switched to Tally and need to import historical transaction data from the past 12–24 months can use Bank Statement Engine to convert archived PDF statements quickly. There are no page or file size limits — large multi-page annual statements are handled in seconds.
Handling Password-Protected Indian Bank PDFs
Many Indian banks send monthly statements via email as password-protected PDFs. Common passwords used by Indian banks:
- HDFC Bank: Your registered date of birth in DDMMYYYY format
- ICICI Bank: First 4 letters of your name + date of birth (DDMM format)
- SBI: Your account number or registered date of birth
- Axis Bank: Date of birth in DDMMYYYY format
Upload the PDF on Bank Statement Engine and enter the password when prompted. The password is used only to unlock the file for processing and is never stored or logged.
